About the Department of Chemistry
The Chemistry Department is committed to providing advanced study opportunities in chemistry. In pursuit of this commitment, we offer two programs: Master of Science (Organic Chemistry) and Doctor of Philosophy.
Our Master of Science program saw its first group of graduates in 2021–22, marking the start of our journey toward academic greatness. We're dedicated to providing impactful education that meets global standards while also reflecting local needs. Our curriculum is carefully crafted to blend local insights with international standards set by regulatory bodies. We're committed to the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020, encouraging a passion for scientific exploration and supporting interdisciplinary studies. The Master's and Doctoral programs are committed to achieving excellence and advancing scientific knowledge through ground breaking research, fostering innovation in academia.
As affirmed in the mission statement of the university, the department believes in holistic education, that is, to impart quality education and create a strong foundation of cultural values in our students to support the future of the region, our society, and country, and to establish itself as a premier educational and research institute recognized globally for its excellence in all endeavours. We believe in overall personality development, confidence building, enhancing soft skills, communication skills and lay equal emphasis on social responsibilities towards society. Accordingly, on the one hand, thrust is given to technical-academic activities like participation and organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, industrial visits etc., and on the other hand students are motivated to do social service.
Last year the department organized many national events viz. Seminars, workshops, conferences, expert lectures etc. Also, organized a two-day National conference in collaboration with the Gujarat Science Congress, supported by the Gujarat Science Academy, during February 2024. And we were fortunate enough to have Eminent Professors / Scientists during such events across the globe.
We are trying to make a mark in the field of chemical science, to bring further excellence in the fields of teaching and research, and to meet the new parameters set in due to the effect of globalization on Indian Education systems.
