Vision

The Hindi Department at Shri Govind Guru University envisions a future where rural students rise above real-life situations and circumstances to enhance the competence and proficiency of scholars and students in the field of national literature and communication. The department envisages a creative atmosphere and learning environment by facilitating multi-disciplinary interactions. It aims to motivate students to pursue their inherent desire to acquire knowledge through various activities. Creative writing and cultural activities are encouraged through the medium of the national language.

 

Mission

The Hindi Department at Shri Govind Guru University is committed to providing quality education through a variety of programs for our postgraduate students tailored to the needs of students from rural backgrounds. We strive to conduct pioneering research focused on translating oral literature of local communities into Hindi, thereby preserving cultural heritage and promoting inclusiveness. Our mission is to integrate regional literatures into our curriculum, enrich academic discourse and nurture a deep appreciation for diverse literary traditions among our students.

 

About the Department

The Department of Hindi became functional in the academic year 2024. Situated at a distance of 114 km from Chhotaudepur in Madhya Pradesh border area and 102 km from Mangarh in Rajasthan border area and 89 km from Baroda, it is easily accessible by railway and highway only from Baroda and Anand. It is a region dotted with many tourist attractions that offer unique opportunities to see and experience the rich cultural heritage, natural landscapes and monuments. Taking into account the local geographical and cultural demographics as well as the international standards set by the UGC, the Department offers a state-of-the-art curriculum to meet the holistic needs of the students of the region. It facilitates in-depth study and research in various areas of language and literature and its practical and functional aspects such as translation, media, comparative studies, language technology, various contemporary discourses etc. The curriculum of the Hindi Department is based on the model curriculum of the University Grants Commission and is updated from time to time in consultation with experts with due approval of the academic bodies. The faculty members of the Department have designed courses on contemporary relevance and emerging areas and they are offered as electives and soft core courses. Some of these courses are from the tribal knowledge tradition and are aimed at nurturing the skills of the students for their career development. The Department is playing a vital role in adopting innovative practices in language, learning and assessment process in the field of computing in Indian languages. ICT integrated teaching, seminars, interactive classes, group discussions, internal and external assessment practices are enriching teaching and learning. The Department is also playing a vital role in developing students by providing opportunities of open online-learning, documentary films and blended learning experiences to the students on campus.
