संस्कृतं नाम दैवी वाग् अन्वाख्याता महर्षिभि:’ Sanskrit is one of the oldest & ancient  languages in the World. Sanskrit is दैव वाणी, i.e. the language of Gods. It is not just a language, but the voice of India’s soul and wisdom. It is the connecting link between India’s past and present. It has been the vehicle of Knowledge Tradition of Bharat. Sanskrit is an essence of Indian Culture and heritage. Sanskrit is at the root of many branches of learning including linguistics, Indian literature, IKS, Manuscripts and history. Therefore Sanskrit is still studied today in order to explore the in-depth knowledge of these subjects.  

 

Welcome to the Post Graduate Department of Sanskrit at Shri Govind Guru University, Godhra. With the blessings of the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratapsinh Chauhan the Sanskrit Department was established in June, 2021. Right from its inception the Department, under the leadership of Sanskrit Scholar Dr. Rajesh Vyas has taken up pioneering work in the areas of Sanskrit Literature.  The vision of Sanskrit Department involves promoting and preserving the rich heritage of Sanskrit language and literature, while its mission focuses on providing comprehensive education and research in the field, fostering a deeper understanding of Indian culture, Values and knowledge systems. 

 

Vision:

"Revive the glory of Sanskrit by connecting ancient Indian wisdom with modern academia by promoting interdisciplinary research, study of manuscripts and reinterpretation of Shastric texts and ensure their continued relevance in the modern world.

 

Mission:

"Nurture in our students, a deep engagement with the Indian Knowledge System, bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and modern academia. We aim to cultivate graduates who not only master the linguistic and cultural richness of Sanskrit but also connect its profound insights to contemporary challenges. Through innovative research methodologies and interdisciplinary collaboration, we seek to explore, interpret, and preserve Shastric texts, manuscripts, and the vast intellectual legacy embedded in Sanskrit. "

 

Objectives:

 - To Re-establish the glory of Sanskrit by promoting learning of the Indian Knowledge System by introducing students with the various branches of Indian knowledge system, culture & civilization.

 - To prepare graduates who can connect the modern academia with the Sanskrit fraternity.

 - Promote the research of Shastric Texts using modern methodology and ways of interpretation. Identify such aspects of Ancient Indian Wisdom depicted in Sanskrit Shastric and Literary works reflected in Indian Culture coping up with modern era without losing its essence.

 - Focus on the editing, interpreting and critically analyzing Sanskrit Manuscripts.

 - Rewrite the chronology of Sanskrit Literature using modern tools in the light of Textual, Archaeological, Linguistic evidences etc.

 - Enable students to understand and apply the knowledge based on Sanskrit heritage.

Goals:

 - Adopt student-friendly teaching technic & practices focussing on the significance of Sanskrit language and its significance in the Indian Knowledge System

 - Promotion of interdisciplinary studies based to amalgamate the knowledge of sanskrit with other subjects

 - To provide comprehensive education in traditional Sanskrit studies, with specialized focus on advanced disciplines.

 - To foster advance research in Sanskrit education and the Indian Knowledge System.

 - To conduct in-depth studies of classical and contemporary Sanskrit literature.

 - To enrich understanding of Sanskrit heritage through rigorous research.

 - To offer in-depth interpretations of Shastras, integrating traditional and contemporary perspectives.

 - To provide deep understanding in Sanskrit knowledge and advanced training in Shastric components like Jyotish, Vastushastra, and Yoga.

 - To preserve and critically analyze ancient manuscripts.

 - To train and develop competent Sanskrit teachers for schools.

 - To prepare teachers, educators and faculty members for higher education institutions.

 - To achieve excellence in Sanskrit education and research, establishing a distinct and esteemed reputation

 - To develop and implement effective teaching methods and curricula for Sanskrit language and literature.

 - To establish a research center for Sanskrit studies, and to promote research and innovation in the field.

 - To organize seminars, workshops, and conferences on Sanskrit language and literature, and to promote cultural exchange and collaboration.

 - To develop and maintain a library of Sanskrit texts and resources, and to provide access to these resources for students and researchers.

 - To promote the use of Sanskrit language and literature in modern contexts, such as education, media, and government.

Other Activities

Besides regular teaching/studies, other extra-curricular activities like chhanda shikshana shibir, Sanskrit Sambhashana Varga, Sanskrit Saptah celebration, Manuscriptology Workshop, Sanskrit One Act play competition, Sanskrit quiz, Study tour, Cultural activities, Wall Magazine, Vag-Vardhini-sabha etc.
