Dr. Surendrasinh Gohil currently serves as the Professor and Head of the Department of English at Shri Govind Guru University (SGGU), Vinzol-Godhra, a role he has held since 2023. Additionally, he contributes as the Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at SGGU, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing academic excellence.
With over 18 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Gohil has made significant contributions to both teaching and research. His academic journey has been marked by exceptional achievements, including being awarded two Gold Medals by Sardar Patel University for his outstanding performance during his higher studies.
A recipient of the prestigious E-teacher Scholarship from the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy, Dr. Gohil has been honored twice to pursue advanced academic programs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA. In 2012, he also participated in a group study exchange program to the UK, sponsored by Northern College, UK, as part of the River’s Movement Project.
Dr. Gohil’s research interests are diverse and encompass Cultural Studies, Comparative Studies, Translation Studies, and Language Studies. He has successfully supervised four Ph.D. scholars to completion, and currently, five more are pursuing their doctoral research under his guidance. He has also completed two significant research projects, further strengthening his academic portfolio.
A seasoned academic leader, Dr. Gohil has delivered over 50 lectures at various professional development programs, faculty development programs (FDPs), workshops, and conferences. He has also created e-content and training materials for numerous institutions, demonstrating his commitment to the advancement of education through technology. He has authored Six textbooks of English for the Gujarat State School Textbook Board, Govt. of Gujarat, Gandhinagar.
Beyond academics, Dr. Gohil has a passion for extracurricular activities such as photography, trekking, and adventure, reflecting his dynamic personality and commitment to holistic development.
